The majority of history courses study modern events however a number of colleges run Ancient History courses as well. Many history syllabuses incorporate at least one field trip and this is often fun as well as educational for students. This course is a great start to a career as a historian obviously however it can also be useful in the fields of museum work, conservation, lecturing and even archaeology. When taken with languages such as French, German or Spanish it can also lead to a great career in some departments of the foreign embassies around the world.
