Quick Way Of Working Out The Difference Of 2 Squared Numbers
Factorising Squared Numbers
Date : 05/02/2022
If you factorise the difference of two squared numbers, such as 58^2 - 42^2 you can work out the solution using the following method:
1. Add the 2 squared numbers together, in the example above it is 100
2. Take the difference of the 2 squared numbers away from one another and you get 16
3. Now multiply 100 x 16 and you derive at 1600 which is your answer
A further example could be 42^2 - 22^2= 64x 20= 1280
This is a quick and fun way of working out the difference of two squared numbers so do have a try with some other numbers and you will see how easy it is with having to use a calculator or working them out manually!
