Information about Wayne
Qualified, passionate, honest, reliable and patient tutor who has taught in both Primary and Secondary education for the past 13 years teaching Maths up to and including GCSE Higher Level, ( Edexcel,AQA Exam Boards) , as well as English, Verbal Reasoning and NVR in preparation for SAT`s, 11+, independent /private school entrance exams and just as a confidence booster.
Graduated in both April 2007 and May 2016, as well as gaining a Distinction in my Teaching Diploma in 2011. Prior to joining the teaching profession, I worked in senior managerial roles at 2 UK International banks in London (City) for almost 4 decades (36 years) until I took redundancy in December 2008 due to office relocation to Manchester, hence where my passion, drive and enthusiasm for mathematics has been derived from.
I have achieved excellent all round results to date (2009- 2018) and this year, 2019, all 11 of my private tutees attained top grades ( 6 - 9*) in the new style Maths Higher GCSE exam, which is the old A**- B grades, so I am extremely proud of these recent achievements and keeping up my 100% record of high grade passes at GCSE Maths. Two passed with a 9 (A**grade) and will be joining the 6th Form at St.Olaves Grammar School, Orpington from their current settings, Wilmington Grammar School for Boys and Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar school.
Enhanced DBS checks in place and verified, and references and feedback are available from current/past tutees upon request. I found out recently that all 9 of my tutees who sat the 11+ Grammar School entrance tests in September 2018 passed and one has been selected for the 2nd phase of St Olaves Grammar School, Orpington, whilst another student gained a top 180 place for the Bexley tests, getting an automatic place at their 1st choice school. I am really elated by their efforts and hard work in achieving these fantastic results.
Overall, my tutees in 2019 and from the previous 6/7 years have all passed their GCSE Maths with excellent grades, so both parents and I have been extremely pleased with the tremendous achievements and superb efforts put in all round to achieve them. I am hoping for another set of excellent results in 2019/20 to equal those of recent years.
I am a Full Member of The Tutors Association with MTA designatory status. Studied and completed a BA Hons degree(f) in Teaching Support and Learning at University of Greenwich, London 2 days a week.
Married to my wife Lorraine for 39 years and have 2 sons, aged 27 and 29. I enjoy most sports, especially football, swimming, rugby and cricket.I also like socializing with family and friends, listening to music (70`s/ 80`s), reading, DIY and gardening. I am a qualified sports coach , ex football referee and have also undertaken and completed a cricket umpire`s course.
Have worked in many senior positions in the Banking industry for over 36 years (made redundant from RBS, December 2010) owing to the department being relocated to the banks Manchester offices. I have a friendly personality and like meeting people from all walks of life. I enjoy socialising with friends and family, as well as going on holiday and seeing local theatre productions.
Availability: Weekdays From 9.30 am to 2.30pm and from 4pm to 8pm and weekends
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Thirteen (13) years professional Maths tutoring to GCSE Higher level, as well as KS2/3 English, Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning. I have worked in 3 primary schools and 3 secondary schools, predominantly working in the classroom with individuals or small groups of children in Years 4 to 6, and pupils in Years 7-11 to help them improve and enhance their maths skills, as well as giving them more confidence whilst studying the subject.
Currently tutoring at a local secondary school in Bromley, Kent, working with both able and less able pupils in either a classroom, individual or small group environment to enhance and raise their ability levels and confidence in Maths. I am very passionate about maths and put the subject matter across in such a way that pupils find it very easy to understand and at the same time, really enjoy the tutorials, so that they go away, knowing that they have learned a vast amount and are eager to return, to learn even more, in both a relaxed and pleasant learning environment. Give excellent value for money by way of tuition and focusing on the time spent tutoring individual students.
At my present setting I am currently supporting maths across the board, (Years 7 to Year 11) in preparation for their GCSE exams , either in a classroom environment or in small groups, either in or away from classroom to booster their grades.
Feedback For Wayne (28)
My son is happy with Mr Wayne. He is nice, reliable and he knows how to make him feeling confident. He is also friendly and knows what to teach. I can see a progress and my son is getting more confident with his Maths lessons. Hope he will achieve better grades in his GCSE exam. Thanks Wayne
Wayne is a very good teacher and shows a lot of patience to my daughter who is preparing for her 11+. He tailor makes work according to your childs level and explains in detail on how to tackle the questions. He has put my daughter at ease now she has had a few more lessons and she is beginning to show a bit more confidence. Would not hesitate in recommending Wayne.
My daughter is in year 8 and has been being tutored by Wayne for a number of months. Her confidence in maths has really grown and this is showing in her tests, where her results have improved by over 50%. I would definitely recommend Wayne as a maths tutor.
Wayne is Bad with communication, after paying for the tutor hunt to get his details he did not get to me until he was available to tutor my daughter. We have been in contact with since September and just replying in January, which it kind of late for us to prepare for the 11+exam.... So I can not recommend Wayne...
Tutors Response :
This feedback should be based on my tutoring qualities not on communication prior to commencing the tutoring which all the other parents, believed to be over 50 have judged me on , scoring all top marks 5/5 as I have helped their children get excellent grades in their GCSE, entrance exams and grammar school tests, or just to help them gain in confidence in the subjects. I have been a tutor in schools and privately for 13 years and have only ever received favourable and encouraging comments about my tutoring services, so this latest comment is completely detrimental to my character. I only contacted this customer recently just to see if she had found a tutor and at the time of arranging the initial tutoring asked for a meeting prior to commencing. I hope going forward feedback is solely judged on my tutoring ability, nothing else because I put 100% into this as all the parents who have scored me over the past 5 years have done this, and quite rightly so.
From the first lesson put our daughter at ease, is so friendly and he puts 100 percent into every lesson, wish we had found Wayne years ago
Wayne is very nice and my son enjoys his lessons. They do the questions together, rather than looking at answers, which helps understanding.
Wayne has been teaching my daughter for a few months. She seems to be learning very well from him. He is very dedicated. Wold recommend.
My son is benefiting nicely from Waynes structured approach which enables him to practise between lessons.
Wayne is absolutely wonderful! He is currently tutoring my 10 year old daughter and you can clearly see how invested he is in helping her progress. He is incredibly patient and always has a lot of time for her. She is fairly shy and he works well to make her feel really comfortable and to bring out her confidence. She is really enjoying the lessons so far and I have no doubt the great progress she will make for her SATS next May! Thank you Wayne!
My daughter enjoy and understand the lessons very good ,I recommend Mr Wayne
Wayne is a brilliant teacher, patient, diligent and is passionate about maths. Maths is not my sons favorite subject, but he happily worked with Wayne and learnt some critical functions and formulas. Very happy with the tutoring and would highly recommend Wayne.
Mr Wayne had visited our house and had an initial assessment with my son who will be starting year 4 this September. We have been impressed the way the initial assessment was done in maths as the questions were handwritten and prepared by him rather than printing out from some website. So far we found him good and we are hiring him to tutor my son.My son seems quite comfortable with him and hope he will be a great support and strength.
I have found Wayne to be a good tutor re maths, Professional in his approach and understanding.
