One of the best ways to improve your pronounciation in English is to listen as much as possible to spoken English. You can learn a lot about pronunciation by listening to songs and music and television such as documentaries and The News as well as engaging with native English speaking people! Immerse yourself as much as possible! It will really make a difference!

Another tip is to learn to break down words into their sounds for example syl-la-bus. Exaggerate certain sounds too which means try to make the sounds bigger in order to distingush certain sounds from other sounds in English. Many sounds are hard to tell apart when you listen for example `where` and `were`. QUESTION: Do they sound the same? ANSWER: NO

Correct your mouth shape by using a mirror and this can be the best way to tell what your mouth and your tongue are doing whilst you talking. Another technique is to place your finger in front of your lips whilst you pronounce a sound for example `th` or `sh` sound. Notice that as you speak your lips moves away or push towards your tongue. We do not think about what our tongue do. Check what your tongue does as you speak for example make the sound `L` and `R` to pronounce these letters correctly. It is all about the position of the tongue! To make the `L` sound you will notice that your tongue touches the back of your front teeth and also the top of your mouth just behind your teeth. When you try this ensure your tongue touches the top of your mouth!

With `Th` sound put your tongue between your top and bottom teeth and your tongue should stick out a little between your teeth. Try to pronounce `This` and repeat the word a few times!

Good luck!
