With 459 pupils, St Catherine's Primary School has a significantly higher than average number of pupils in the UK. With more boys (51.9%) attending the school than girls (48.1%), the student base is largely a male environment. St Catherine's Primary School has 20.7 members of staff, which is notably above the average. A 21:1 teacher/student ratio for This School may make it difficult for the teacher to give attention to individual pupils` concerns.

KS2 exams are important to the pupils themselves as often secondary schools will use these results to determine which academic set to place the pupils. Students in higher sets are usually challenged more and are able to develop at a faster rate. With an average KS2 score of 104 grading, the school scores highly, and is above most other schools. The teachers at this school have an average salary of £33772 , significantly below the countrywide average. 90.9% of the pupils of St Catherine's Primary School speak English as a 1st language, which is much lower than the national average.

Ofsted

About Ofsted

Ofsted have been inspecting schools on a regular basis since 2005. After a cursory warning period they undertake a thorough examination of the whole school. Inspectors will sit in on classes, assessing each teacher's teaching ability. They will also evaluate the way the current curriculum is implemented, and how the progress of each student is tracked throughout their tenure.

Each school is graded on a four point scale: 1 being outstanding, 2 being good, 3 means they require improvement, and 4 signifying inadequate. Those schools attaining an outstanding or good grade might not be re-inspected for as long as five years; while those receiving lower grades will be reassessed with greater frequency, with little or no notice prior to the inspectors arriving.
