There are multiple issues with the way schools report academic progress to parents. Many parents find it difficult to deduce exactly how well their children are doing. Even worse, parents and their children may not be convinced by the judgements made and may be overwhelmed by the absence of specific learning gap identification. Many of these judgements are also subjective and based on limited objective assessment.

The only solution to these problems is to obtain an independent and objective assessment achieved via automated analysis. Much of this can now be supported by modern AI packages many of which provide for continuous analysis of progress.

School reporting is often structured to illustrate continuous improvement without any corroboration. This is why I like to conduct periodic testing so that an objective benchmark is maintained which establishes if your child`s school is actually helping your child to improve and accurately identifies skills that need attention.

Put simply this means that parent power is enabled by achieving an objective assessment. If tutoring is arranged separately this reporting helps to assess tutoring progress. Even my own!
