Information about Peter

The key strength of my approach is that I am a highly effective communicator and can draw on extensive non-teaching experience to inspire young people. I am particularly interested in solving limiting problems for young people and would classify myself as outcome-focused. Examples of this might be exam phobia/stress, poor literacy, poor mental arithmetic, poor reading and comprehension skills and teaching young people how to help themselves.

The key to success is developing independence and exam-focused skills. Mentoring is of more value than content tutoring, as it can help young people to plan more effectively, become more organised, and work effectively on their own and without direct support.

There won`t be a tutor to solve problems and prompt in exams!

The world is changing rapidly, and although schools can resist modern developments, I use AI-supported learning software extensively to assess learning status and identify improvement plans.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I earned a BA Hons in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham (1982), a BSc Hons in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Chichester (2007), and a PGCE In Business/Economics from the University of Portsmouth (2011).

Before teaching, I held several senior roles during a 20-year financial services career focused on developing and marketing investment platforms. My most senior role was Marketing Director for Scottish Widows. These were all applied economics roles which involved close working relationships with many city institutions and economists and extensive blogging experience.

I commenced teacher training in 2010 and taught at GCSE, A-level, and IB Diploma at Portsmouth Grammar School and South Downs College. Following this, I founded EzyEducation Ltd, which supports schools via online courses covering Economics, Business, Maths and Science at GCSE and Economics and Business at A-Level.

Between 2015 and 2018, I marked A-level economics scri pts for AQA and was invited to address students on "Succeeding in Exams" at the last 3 Economics in Action Events.

I have three years of exam board marking experience, have tutored intensively for the last three years, and currently work in school.

Peter is tutoring my son in GCSE science and my son is finding that he is understanding more with the 1 to 1 tuition. Peter uses different materials to ensure understanding of the topics.
