The school has considerably more female than male pupils, with 58.9% girls and 41.1% boys. It is important that schools monitor attendance records closely, to try and reduce persistence absents. They have only a 96.1% attendance rate, certainly below average. 6.5 members of staff leaves Whitefield Community Primary School below average in staffing numbers. This School has a 30:1 teacher/pupil ratio, far exceeding the normal for the country, making for a large number of pupils in each classroom of just one teacher, which may impede lesson progression.

KS2 exams are important to the students themselves as often secondary schools will use these results to determine which academic set to place the students. Students in higher sets are usually challenged more and are able to develop at a faster rate. A low average KS2 score of 102 for the school, puts the school the lowest achieving category. The average full time teacher`s salary for the school is £41231 , which is higher than nationwide average. Only 64.1% of pupils speak English as a 1st language in Whitefield Community Primary School, a proportion much lower than the countries average figure.

Ofsted

About Ofsted

Ofsted have been inspecting schools on a regular basis since 2005. After a cursory warning period they undertake a thorough examination of the whole school. Inspectors will sit in on classes, assessing each teacher's teaching ability. They will also evaluate the way the current curriculum is implemented, and how the progress of each student is tracked throughout their tenure.

Each school is graded on a four point scale: 1 being outstanding, 2 being good, 3 means they require improvement, and 4 signifying inadequate. Those schools attaining an outstanding or good grade might not be re-inspected for as long as five years; while those receiving lower grades will be reassessed with greater frequency, with little or no notice prior to the inspectors arriving.
