Your Times Table Made Easy
The Concept of Times Table
Date : 12/10/2013
Times Table is simply Repeated Addition. If you are learning the 4 times table, keep adding 4 each time to the previous answer.
For example: 4 X 1 = 4 4 X 2 = 8 (4+4) 4 X 3 = 12 (8+4)
Many children learn times table by just reciting the answers, which is very wrong. In this way, children tend to struggle when they meet times table in their work. Sometimes they do know , for example, 4, 8,12, 16, 20 and so on. However, because they have only learnt the answers, when a child is asked, what is 4 X 3, they struggle with the answer, as they have only learnt the answers to the 4 times table but not 4 X 3. It is always a smart idea to learn your times table by saying
4 x 1 = 4 4 x 2 = 8 and so on.
