Let us try 567 divided by 22

With chunking, you multiply with the numbers that you are confident with such as 20, 10, 5 and 2

567 divided by 22 - 220 (we know that 22 x 10 =220) _________ 347 347 is still more than 220 so we can keep multiplying with 10

- 220 (22 x 10 = 220) ______ 127 We cannot multiply with 10 again as we 127 is lower than 220 so we go down to 5

- 110 (22 x 5 = 110) __________ 17 (left over or remainder) We can stop here as 17 is lower than 22

At this we add 10 + 10 + 5 (remember, we multiplied 22 by 10 then 10, then 2) = 25

The answer to 567 divided by 22 = 25 remainder 17
