Most UK universities employ a grading structure built - generally - upon two major components: an exam and a research paper. Exam preparation is an area of great concern to many students, and a primary driver of tutoring services. This is for good reason - exams are generally far broader, more unpredictable, and compromise a higher percentage of your overall final mark.

Yet, it is only the paper which is fundamentally controllable by the student. In essence, the research paper is the one area of the cumulative course mark which is predictable and controllable.

Currently, many students are finalising their research papers. In theory, months (or weeks) of work will be submitted in isolation - meaning that it is only the student who has researched, written, and submitted the work. This leads to inevitable biases in the paper.

Unless a professor happens to think exactly the same as the student (highly unlikely), these biases can lead to issues resulting in a reduced grade for the paper.

The best way to reduce bias is to gain objective, outside, opinions. To gain another perspective helps to ensure that your paper can be seen in the way that you want it to be seen.

As a component of my tutoring offerings, I work with students who are looking for an outside opinion on their academic papers. I`m happy to read and provide detailed feedback on papers - with the aim of ensuring that your work can truly "stand on its own" and that it tells the story that you want to tell in a manner that is academic, professional, and clear.
