Food Tests (gcse Biology)

This is an article recapping the Food tests for different biomolecules at the GCSE level.
Reducing sugars:
Add Benedicts Reagent and boil the solution. If a reducing sugar is present, the colour changes froms. blue solution to a red precipitate.
Proteins:
Add Biuret solution. If proteins are present, solution changes from blue to purple.
Starch:
Add iodine. If starch is present, the solution turns from Yellow/brown to Blue/black
Lipids:
Add ethanol. If lipids are present, the colourless solution forms a white emulsion.
