Potential changes to the climate may include: wetter winters hotter, drier summers increased frequency of storms, link this to the changes which would occur in the water cycle eg more precipitation leads to higher infiltration which would increase groundwater levels.

Uses made of groundwater include domestic, industrial and agricultural, this is expected to increase which could lead to groundwater depletion

Links made between changes in climate and changes to the levels of groundwater- more or less precipitation in increased or decreased frequencies will impact groundwater storage.

Issues of recharge and problems as climate changes- the consistency of rain may not be the same as it has been.

There are also many regional differences, e.g. the southeast of the UK may be affected more severely due to much lower levels of precipitation and yet greater usage from growing population whereas the north may be more prone to flooding and high rainfall events.
