Was William Wallace a Braveheart or a Blackheart?

The Wallace tale is relatively heroic and people think of Wallace as someone to believe in and look up to, as he was portrayed to look like someone who was fearless and very brave in Hollywood. He is remembered because he fought for Scotland and this is how a lot of people know him but he also raided villages and stole things, so he isn`t perfect.

William Wallace was a good person because he fought for Scotland and done what the people wanted at that time, he also fought for what he believed in giving people to this day inspiration for the same thing. He then later on in life didn`t die an easy death instead going for the hard option of being hung, drawn and quartered suggesting that he would suffer for his country giving people that sense of pride they need as a moral boost sometimes.

People also see Wallace as a nasty person because he pillaged a village on the south of England, killed people mercilessly and done what king Edward and his army done in the process, some believe he was just as bad as Edward. He Also let men die when not needed.

The two sides to this debate both have a lot of evidence and they are all pieces of information that makes you think what is real or fake. I personally believe that William Wallace was both a black heart and a brave heart because he Was extremely cruel however he gives some people pride In Scotland and a sense of happiness and bravery when they think about him
