"Harriet began tutoring me in April 2018. From April 2018 to June 2019, Harriet and I worked through the two OCR AS and A level text books together, I sat the exams in June. Since our first lesson Harriet was a brilliant teacher. She was organised, hard working, punctual and had a flare and a passion for chemistry and teaching in general. Harriet had a busy teaching schedule alongside tutoring me, but always gave me 100%. Once a fortnight we would meet for an hour or so and go through last week’s work together and discuss goals for the coming weeks. Harriet’s lessons were stimulating, well planned and challenging. Between lessons I would do homework, Harriet was conscientious in her marking. Harriet was flexible and accommodating in arranging times to meet and totally dedicated to my learning and progress. When I got stuck, or found a topic difficult, Harriet was great at setting extra homework and had a vast bank of teaching resources at her disposal which allowed me to practise areas I found hardest. Harriet’s can-do attitude, extensive knowledge and experience, coupled with her ability to approach topics from multiple angles meant that I understood these complex areas after spending extra time with her and having some more practice. Initially I found buffers, Ph scales, stoichemetry and NMR Spectroscopy to be some of the topics I found most difficult when I met Harriet, by the time the exam came I felt these were some of my strongest ones. By June 2019 I felt confident in all areas of the course; this was largely due to Harriet’s help, input, support, persistence and kindness. I could not have taken this on without her alongside a full time job of my own, she has been great. In my humble opinion she is a natural educator and any student would be lucky to have her as a teacher. I hope she continues to have a successful career in teaching and I wish her all the best for the future."
