"I have been having lessons with shabnam for a little over a year now and I absolutely love them. My dad is Irannian and my mum is English and I grew up not learning Farsi which I always regretted. I had felt that by this time it was too late to learn but it wasn`t! I was 25 when I started my lessons with shabnam last year, and in that time I have learnt so many new words and can construct sentences in past, present and future tense. Initially I was looking into enrolling in a evening Farsi course at a London uni (a course of 10seminars with a class of other students). This was very expensive and wasn`t one to one tuition which I think is important for beginners who really need to build their confidence. Also I have to travel with work so may have needed to miss the odd evening lesson which was not convenient. My boyfriend found Shabnam on tutor hunt and bought 3 lessons for me as a Christmas present and it is the best present I have had! I really love learning the language and having time set aside to do something for me. It is also very convenient- With shabnam we can have Skype lessons so it is very easy for me to fit Farsi lessons into my busy schedule. At first I didn`t think Skype lessons would be as good as face to face, but they really are. Shabnam points the camera at her white board so you get just as much out Of the lessons, minus the travelling. Shabnam`s a very good teacher- she`s passionate, makes lessons fun and also makes learning Farsi simple. As well as teaching the language, she also shares so much about Irannian culture which (having not yet been to Iran) I really value. She will offer me Irannian sweets if I go to her house for a lesson, tell me about Irannian customs or even invite me to the cinema to watch the latest Asgha Farhadi film. She is very encouraging and very dedicated and I hope to continue my lessons for years to come."
