I am calm, caring and friendly as well as being conscientious, motivated and hard-working. I enjoy taking part in a variety of activities and I like being outdoors.
I have worked with many children who lacked confidence when tutoring began and I have seen them quickly relax and gain confidence since working with me. Significant academic progress has been made by children with whom I have worked, evident in the fact that they have moved tuition groups at school and/or improved their teacher-assessed levels.
I attempt to vary the methods I use for teaching, taking into account different learning styles and making learning enjoyable.
My additional experience of working with children includes a year spent volunteering as an assistant leader at a local Brownies pack.
Availability: I have availability on some weekday afternoons and evenings, at weekends and during school holidays.

Experience: I was employed in primary schools for five years between 2008 and 2013 and I have additional experience of volunteering in primary schools prior to these times. My employed roles included Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, which involved teaching whole classes, small groups and individuals across Foundation Stage, and Key Stages 1 and 2. I have also implemented successful one-to-one spelling and phonics lessons for children in Years 2 and 3.
I have been tutoring children between the ages of six and eleven since 2010, including preparation for the Eleven Plus tests, Entrance Exams and SATs tests.

Sharon was helping my 10yo prepare for independent school entrance exams. She is a highly organised, calm and encouraging tutor with a lovely manner. My son thoroughly enjoyed his lessons and learnt a great deal. Sharon tailored her lessons to my son`s needs rather than rigidly sticking to her lesson plan. She encouraged my son to explain the reasoning behind his answers. As a teacher of 21 years I can highly recommend this tutor.

In my daughter’s words, Sharon is ‘kind, calm, patient and excellent’ ! Sharon tutored my 10 year old son for several months prior to his 11+ examination September 2017 in Warwickshire. We probably left it a bit late, but the preparation Sharon was able to provide has been invaluable. My main concern was ensuring my Son felt confident during the exam, regardless of whether he passes and manages to gain entrance into a grammar school. Sharon was able to focus on the areas he struggled with, boost his confidence and ensure he felt prepared. Sharon is a diligent, patient and caring teacher. We highly recommend her!- I know my Son will miss his time with Sharon and I have had no hesitation recommending her to friends. Everything he has learnt will stand him in good order for Year 6.

We are extremely grateful to Sharon for steering our daughter (and us) through the 11+ journey. Sharon was always a kind and calm influence in lessons. She offered great advice and guidance. The learning materials she recommended provided excellent preparation. The study aids she produced herself were also very useful. She was reliable and willing to be flexible about lesson times when necessary. We felt our daughter was well prepared for the test.

Sharon has tutored both my daughters for the 11 plus, one of whom has a place at Grammar school (awaiting results for 2nd daughter). She is very calm, kind and approachable. Sharon adapted each lesson to suit their needs and gave me lots of ideas on activities, websites and learning for outside of lessons. Sharon was also flexible in arranging lessons at times to suit us, both at weekends and evenings.

Sharon is friendly and has a good manner with children - my daughter found her easy to get along with. She has a room set up for studying and was happy to have myself and my other children (when unavoidable!) stay there during the session as well. Unfortunately we had to stop tutoring shortly after beginning due to unexpected financial constraints, so I am unable to comment on the effectiveness of the tutoring. We wish her well with her tutoring and her studies. Thank you.
