`At just 16, national papers predicted Funmi would serve our country as the first black, female, muslim Prime Minister following her historic public address in the House of Commons. Ten years on, miss is very much on her way to serving the world. She is a chemist, motivational TEDx Speaker, author, founder of student collective: The Race Against Medicine, and internationally operating social enterprise: The Empower Us Project, all the while Funmi pursues a full-time career as a global health leader and medical doctor.`
"The only problem with our generation today is that every individual has the potential to be extraordinary, but everyone just thinks they are normal."
Over the past 7 years, I have been active in supporting the personal development of young people and local communities.
In my younger years, I served as the elected representative for the London UK Youth Parliament and through this role hosted various events, led campaigns and even made recorded history in Hansard after my address in the House of Commons.
Its not all political I have always been in awe of the sciences.
I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Chemistry from Queen Mary University London in 2014 and I am now in my fourth year at the University of Leeds studying Medicine.
So after 6 years of higher education (and roughly 3 more to go, I plan to intercalate and do a Masters programme next year - this will give three degrees by 26!), i`m enthralled by education and thriving more than ever before.
People ask me why. Why do I keep going, why am I so committed to education?
The simple answer is i`m a massive geek and I absolutely love learning.
However, that`s not all. Ultimately, I`m committed to serving others. Whether that be through the voluntary youth programmes I`ve developed in The Gambia (EmpowerUs Youth Programme) or the annual fundraising events I organise to support women and girls who have been victims of domestic abuse and violence.
I`m committed to giving. It is impossible to give from an empty cup, and so i`m dedicated to always keeping my cup full, overflowing in fact. Hence why I am also so passionate about always seeking opportunities to both stretch and challenge my skills and knowledge.
I have made it a priority of mine to always invest my energy and skills towards supporting others. I have achieved this through my commitment to voluntary work across Europe, West Africa and through my social enterprise, TIMS The Institute of Mad Science, a network that seeks to provide education support and opportunities for young people interested in sciences.
I am striving to become more than just a doctor. I`m aspiring to be a global educator on health and medicine. I have aspirations of practicing clinical medicine and health advocacy in West and East Africa providing care to communities who are in greatest need. I want to be part of the force that is committed to educating, advocating good health and championing traditional holistic-health methods.
But for now, whilst I am without my qualifications to serve as a doctor I am passionate about supporting the personal development of others (particularly young people) in all other ways that I am equipped and adequately skilled in.
I`m also a little famous, go ahead - google me.
Now, let`s talk about tuition:
I pride myself in offering tuition support that goes beyond the realms of academia alone. My dedication to enrich the lives of young people and learners through providing opportunities and being a source of motivation for them is manifested through the way that I teach and my commitment to all students.
I will go out of my to support you and you will be enthused with motivation after every single session. fact.
I will provide extra worksheets/homework (if you want it/need it/if I believe it will support you, it will.)/past papers etc. I also tailor my tutoring methods to suit your needs. Not everyone learns in the same way and that`s something I believe the education system is failing to recognise. (but that topic is for another time...(I`m a keen debater))
