Title: Making an influential speech in the House of Commons
Description: Elected Youth MP and Debate Lead for the UK Youth Parliament 2009 My Speech was against the abolishment of tuition fees. It was a History making moment as I was recognised as the FIRST NON MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT to make a PUBLIC SPEECH in the House Of Commons. Ultimately, my dedication to go against the grain and urge the UKYP to change their tactics and campaign to lower tuition fees and abolish them was commended by many local newspapers. “For a brief moment yesterday the Prime Minister of Britain appeared to be young, black and female. And, you know what, if I shut my eyes and suspended real life, it was almost believable. Her name was Funmi Abari and she is 16 and from Haringey.” - Ann Treneman, The Times Newspaper, Oct 2009
