Information about Alex
Hi :)
Whether you`re looking for help with exam technique, essay writing, understanding difficult concepts or revision, I bring a range of teaching methods that I tailor to my students` needs.
I have tutored Biology, Psychology, Physical Education, Neuroscience, Statistics and MATLAB programming from Key Stage 3 level through GCSE, A Level and Degree level. Having tutored these different subjects at various levels, I have gained invaluable experience that allows me to determine how best to help students achieve their goals.
I am a psychology graduate from the University of Birmingham, hence I also endeavour to incorporate my expertise in learning and memory to the benefit of my students. I currently work as a Research Associate at the University of Birmingham investigating the effect of genes on learning. After submitting this for publication, I will be going to The University of Cambridge to study Neuroscience on a Newton Trust scholarship. Therefore, I have a passion for studying which hopefully inspires enthusiasm in my students too!
Having worked in Guest Services at a children`s adventure park, taught English to people of various ages and worked with adults and young people with special needs, I have a developed a friendly approach which I can flexibly adapt to the audience/pupil I am tutoring.
I offer comprehensive private tutoring in Biology, Physical Education and Psychology at GCSE/A Level as well as Psychology/Neuroscience at degree level.
I aim to make sessions enjoyable as this is key to success when studying for exams. If you need help with anything to do with your studies, please get in touch.
Availability: Flexible. Please email/call me to arrange a time that suits you.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have taught children and adults at various levels from KS3 to degree level. I have also taught a variety of subjects. This experience has taught me how to adapt my and the structure of the lesson according to the individual needs of the student. For example, I have run study sessions teaching stats at university level. Meanwhile, I have taught English as a foreign language both one to one and in large classes to children with learning difficulties.
I have always helped my friends wherever I can throughout my own studies/courses and have received very positive feedback from them with a few even giving me thank you gifts! I ended up getting requests from peers I barely knew to help them with various topics in my degree. As a result I have realised that I really enjoy teaching and helping others which has led me to start tutoring.
