Information about Katy
With my professional teaching experience ranging from KS1 to KS5, I am uniquely placed to effectively spot gaps in a child`s learning while equally recognising where their learning journey is headed and successfully prepare them for future learning.
I have been a teacher for over 15 years. My recent teaching experience has been based in upper primary (KS2) with leadership responsibility for maths.
Prior to working in KS2, I was an `outstanding` teacher in secondary for 7 years, working in both selective grammar schools and non-selective schools. I taught Geography, Religious Studies and History to children in KS3 to KS5. My work in KS3, includes specific SEN teaching experience, leading basic skills sessions for children from our Autism centre, in which I would support the children with maths and literacy.
I have tutored children in both KS1 and KS2, successfully boosting their self-esteem and enabling marked progress in their learning of maths and literacy. With my creative approach, I am able to identify the specific ways in which the individual child learns. I tap into their own interests, with good humour, to support them in growing and deepening their understanding in the areas they need support with most. This approach means the children I tutor look forward to their sessions; they want to learn and want to engage in the activities which supports them in achieving their potential.
Currently, I am tutoring online and therefore available to tutor nationwide.
Please do contact me here if you would like to discuss tutoring for your child.
