I have been teaching, tutoring and counselling children through mindfulness, private tuition, play and art therapy for 15 years - believing that true learning comes from the ability to create safe and secure spaces for children to express themselves authentically, using varied teaching styles and techniques to reach each child on their own unique way of learning

I have my Bachelor of Education and 19 years’ experience in class and one on one teaching and child counselling.

I am fun and personable, working well within a team or independently. My driving force is seeing children grow and develop into strong young leaders, with a strong sense of self belief.

I have had the opportunity to work within many diverse schooling environments with children across a broad range of emotional and behavioral barriers. It has allowed me to build the relevant skills required in working with extreme barriers to learning as-well as talented and gifted children in higher levels of academics.

Availability: Monday-Saturday`s 10am -1pm and monday to Friday 4.pm to 8.30pm

Experience: I completed my 4 year degree my Bachelor of Education (B.E.D) with a focus on special needs education (SEN) and psychology PYC206 Child and adolescent development in 2006.

Practical’s were done across a number of different government and private schools, with over 48 weeks experience done prior to graduating.

I am also a fully qualified learn to swim and stroke correction swim instructor– having done my course with Swim SA as a learn to swim trainer, including courses in CPR and first aid.

I have since gone on to further my studies over the years, qualifying in;

In addition to having my Bachelor of Education and 17 years of teaching experience in various schooling environments, I have home schooled my own two children from birth for ten years.

I have run two successful practices: Mamas and Babas (MAMBA) an early learning foundations programme-connecting mothers and their babies/toddlers through early learning concepts/infant massage, sensory integration and practical/tactile play.

I also ran a successful special needs counselling practice (The Peaceful Snail) based in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this practice I focused on children with special needs, employing various teaching methods and styles-play therapy, and counselling sessions to build confidence to overcome barriers to learning.

In between running my practice and home-schooling my two children, I have also spent time in various educational volunteer positions, working with underprivileged children across South Africa.
