I am passionate about teaching, especially maths up to GCSE (Higher&Foundation) and 11+ (VR, NVR and Maths). I usually do an initial analysis of the student and try to identify his/her weak areas and build up my teaching plan accordingly. Now that many schools are adopting the CEM (Durham University) model for 11+ entrance, I have done a thorough analysis on it and would be able to guide students on improving their concepts which in turn will make them comfortable with this new format, rather than relying only on practise papers. I believe teaching is a two way process and both the tutor and the tutee should complement each other. Discipline is a key area, especially for 11+ entry on which I focus a lot and am willing to go that extra mile should I find my tutee diligent & sincere. I not only teach the subject but also the approach to learning, time management, prioritization and a host of other things which would help the tutee to deliver consistent performance in 11+ exams. It is very difficult to collate information regarding the 11+ entry exams from the available sources. When I went through the process, this collation of information was something that I found to be quite a difficult task - more so for a newcomer to the process. Now being an experienced 11+ tutor I believe that I can help others in this aspect.

I also have successful experience of teaching Maths to adult learners. This has also led me to work across corporate segments to help professionals with numerical inabilities which would help them in their day to day work. I understand the impоrtаnce оf building up а gооd working relationship with my students аs they аre mоre likely tо achieve better results in а relaxed envirоnment.

With regards to teaching Maths for Secondary students, my approach is slightly different as most of them have already come through primary school having learnt the basics to some extent. If required, I will work to revisit their basic concepts and ensure that they start to understand Maths as a subject conceptually. Without compromising on exam success my goal is also to make them enjoy Maths as a whole.

According to me, my greatest strength lies in my flexibility to understand my pupils needs and invent mathematical techniques and methods accordingly to make them understand.
