About me:
I have been an eleven plus tutor for the last seven years, I started tutoring straight after university, where I taught small groups of students from year 3 to year 6 in a classroom setting for four years, I then started tutoring one on one exclusively. I’m passionate about the learning of others and getting children into the best schools in the country. Being a private tutor has allowed me to tailor my approach to each individual students need.

I believe most children can pass the eleven plus, given enough time, effort and preparation. By working together, we can improve their maths, English and reasoning skills. Children can make quick progress with tailored one on one lessons.

I have a BS Honours in Biomedical Science.
I have a Fully enhanced DBS.

How I teach:

In each lesson I carefully take the pupil through the topics explaining them as simply as possible. I go through several example questions in detail until the pupil is fully confident, they understand. I check their understanding with short timed test and ask the pupil to explain the concepts back to me, before moving on to the next topic.
I then focus on key exam techniques to help improve their test results and speed.

How I work to get the best results:

Each pupil learns differently so I tailor the lesson for their needs and abilities, for example some students prefer when I work with them throughout the task, helping them as they go along, whereas others prefer to be given an example and method and solve the problems themselves; I then assist them when they go wrong.

I ensure topics are covered thoroughly first before using worksheets and short test to ensure they understand. I constantly go back to topics that have been covered, to refresh the student’s knowledge and keep them confident.

Availability: I am available from Monday to Friday in the afternoon from 4 pm until 8:30 pm

Experience: My experience over the last seven years has taught me the importance of keeping the confidence of the student and ensure they enjoy their lessons. I try my best to ensure the students are fully engaged by making the lessons as fun as possible.

There is no guarantee that any child will pass the 11 plus exam, so my focus is on progression of the student and doing my best to constantly improve their score.

Over the last seven years, I have taught many students who have passed Kent, Medway and the Bexley Grammar schools. I have also taught children who have passed both the very competitive Newstead Wood and St Oalves entrance exams.
