Information about Margaret
I currently tutor for:
the Eleven Plus examination for Wirral schools
GCSE and A level Spanish
GCSE and A level French
GCSE English Language
adult learners of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) / English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
It is important for me that my students, of any age, enjoy learning and I help them to develop confidence in themselves as they learn. I am also keen for my students to learn about the cultures of the countries where English /French / Spanish are spoken so they have an insight into other cultures and a meaningful context in which to learn the language.
I have always enjoyed teaching language and culture and I continue to do so. I am very experienced in teaching students in Secondary Education, Further Education and in Higher Education (at undergraduate and postgraduate levels) as well as at Primary School level as I am keen to use my skills for the benefit of early learners in addition to older students.
I have lived and worked in France, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Canada and the U.S.A. I have extensive knowledge about Latin American culture and contemporary society and I am actively involved in a local Latin American Society. I also have close working contacts with Spain`s Instituto Cervantes in Manchester, where the cultural life of Spain is well promoted through cinema, music, art, literature and theatre.
I am a near-native speaker of Spanish and French.

Margaret has been great with our daughter, who has taken to her straight away. Despite the difficulties of having online lessons because of the lockdown, Margaret has been extremely patient, and found ways of making the lessons work. We are looking forward to seeing how our daughter progresses with Margaret.

Margaret is a most professional tutor. My daughter was working at level C in GCSE Spanish. She commenced tuition in her final year of study and I am very pleased to report was awarded an A grade! Margaret helped boost her confidence especially in regard to the oral exams. I would give her full marks as a tutor!

Margaret tutored my daughter from autumn term of year 10 until spring term year 11 (not every week but). Georgia went from a low end B grade to achieving a high A grade at GCSE this summer. My daughter found Margaret`s way of teaching very helpful and it helped to build her confidence. My daughter is also dyslexic. I would recommend Margaret to anyone looking for a first class tutor.

Charlotte has only been for two sessions so far but I have been very pleased with Margaret professionalism and how she was able to help Charlotte prepare for a Spanish oral exam in a very short space of time. Margarent has helped Charlotte to be more confident in her own abilities and to believe in herself that she has actually got the necessary launguage skills to speak spanish. Charlotte is very shy so has found the oral part of her spanish AS quite stressful and Margaret has helped her to overcome this shyness and believe she can do it. She is definately feeling more confident about her oral exam.
