All About Me:
I am Jo. I have 27 years experience of working with children and young people in a range of educational settings. Most of my learners have neurodiverse conditions, I enjoy creating a learning environment that allows everyone to succeed.
My Strengths:
My strengths are:
- creating a calming and highly personalised learning environment
- thorough understanding of neurodiverse conditions and of the impact of this on learning
- this means I can support my students with emotional regulation
- I can explain complicated subjects in a fun and engaging way (have you ever done algebra with lego?)
What You Can Expect from My Sessions:
At first, I spend time getting to know the child and building up a positive relationship, this builds up trust and forms a strong foundation for future learning and achievement. I do this by using the learners interests to promote engagement and interest in learning. Sessions are designed to be highly personalised with the key theme being our relationship and promoting positive engagement. My parents tell me I am calm and understanding and have an ability to connect to their child on a unique level.
Availability: I currently have availability in my tutoring timetable, I am flexible as to which days and times these are. Please contact me for further information, I am sure we can agree a mutually agreeable time.

I have previously worked in a range of settings, both in the UK and the USA. I have worked as a one to one tutor for many years. I especially enjoy one to one tuition because it allows me to really focus on my learners needs and work at their pace. I love watching and supporting learners and seeing them flourish.

Jo has been working with my 13 year old son who has Asperger`s Syndrome for the last month. Shehas been patient and flexible with him, and he is already producing a higher standard of work than he was when she first came. Jo has a good understanding of children with additional needs and I would definitely recommend her.
