Information about Mercedes

Having completed my integrated masters in Engineering at Cambridge University, I am now completing my postgraduate studies at Imperial College London in Concrete Durability. Whilst at A-level I enjoyed both Chemistry and Maths, my interest in applied mathematics - mechanics, led me to pursue engineering at University. My PhD at Imperial will hopefully provide the opportunity to incorporate more of my interests into my studies.

Whilst acknowledging that each student has different strengths and learning styles, I hope to help students achieve a greater understanding of their subject by enhancing their skills and developing others. Improving their understanding of the school curriculum by demonstrating it in practice and emphasising the fundamentals and links between topics, will allow for easier application of the subject matter to interpret any future questions.

Everyone has a unique style of learning and exam preparation techniques. The aim of my lessons is to enhance the positive practices currently adopted and offer further methods and techniques to help the students reach their full potential. Questions and practice exams before, and set periods after sessions, will help to focus discussion and discover the root cause of any issues, alongside providing opportunities for consolidation, reflection and opportunities to ask for further clarification.

Discussion during lessons will be led by any current issues, with time for expansion on topics, and for students to ask further questions and to agree the areas to be covered in the next lesson. This will provide a firm base of understanding, so the ability to adapt to any question or situation, whether in an exam or in future study can be achieved.

My daughter loves the way Miss Mercedes teaches and brings it down to basics. It is easier to understand and learn the concepts and build up on them.

Excellent. Keen to discuss and prep lessons in advance. Happy to work 1:1, or as a group. Considerate of our children`s needs (ages 4 & 5), making learning engaging and fun. Fantastic at working through constructive feedback (for the child and parents). Only had 2 lessons so far, but looking forward to lots more, as are the children.
