Information about Jason
Hello, my name is Jason and I tutor undergraduates and AS students on psychology, SPSS, research methods and general study skills.
A little about me:
Prior to my return to education, I had a long and successful career in IT. I was an IT/IS manager for a very large market research company (Network Research and Marketing Limited) in London as well as Director of Operations for PC Solutions. During this time, I worked on high-level projects for a diverse set of clients including the National Library of Wales, the Thompson Group, House of Lords, Microsoft, Intel, and Volvo amongst others.
I returned to university to undertake a BSc in Counselling Studies and Psychology (BPS approved), leaving with a First Class (Hons) degree. I then achieved a distinction in Research Methods in Psychology (MSc), and as of October 2019 I am working towards a PhD in Detection and Prevention of Online Child Sexual Abuse: Understanding childrens vulnerabilities and strengths, researching my first book on Parametric and non-parametric tests by hand as well as providing consulting services in relation to protecting children from being groomed online.
Post degree, I worked within the charity sector for Waless primary mental health charity Hafal, working on a stakeholder inspired, National Lottery funded project advising the current Welsh Government administration, the NHS and organisations within the public and private sector on mental health policies in relation to psychological (talking) therapies.
Accomplishments:
Secretariat of the Lets Talk reference group giving a voice to the people of Wales with mental ill-health.
Secretariat of the We Need to Talk (Wales) Coalition bringing together Welsh charities and organisations to fight for fair access to mental health services.
Speaker at the 6th Annual Mental Health International Conference on Innovation and technology in Mental Health at Ontario Shores (Canada) arguing the benefits of the Welsh Prudent Health Care in mental health services.
Joint Presidency of the Psychological Society
Publication of A prudent healthcare approach to user-led service in Wales the paper arguing the benefits of the Welsh Prudent Health Care in mental health services.
Publication of Developing user-led mental health research: Our voice our choice if you research people with mental ill health, then include them in the design and specification of that research.
Publication of Womens prison link service (White Paper) does Wales need a female prison, on mental health grounds the answer would have to be yes.
Publication of We Need to Talk (Discussion paper) - How should the Welsh Government proceed with mental health services.
Availability: I am available on most evenings and weekends, and I am happy tutoring both face to face and over Skype and Messenger. I also have a Whatsapp group for short queries or group bookings.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I have tutored numerous students in Counselling principles, Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics with considerable success (see feedback), particularly in getting undergraduate students through their assignments and dissertation.
I have also developed and delivered mental health advocacy training to the Welsh Government, the NHS and large organisations including BT and the DVLA, as well as, developing and delivering a professional training course for counsellors called "Introducing people with a serious and enduring mental illness to professional counsellors working within the private sector".

By far the best tutor i have had! I would 100% recommend to anyone needing help with Psychology. He explains everything so well and definitely goes the extra mile to help you with whatever you need. I struggled with SPSS and i can`t thank him enough for helping me understand it and making me more confident with using it in the future.
