Information about Yesim

I have a passion for all things Psychology and thoroughly enjoy teaching Psychology at both GCSE and A Level. I understand the challenges of the linear examinations and emphasise on the importance of examination technique as well as the content of the syllabus to ensure students get the best possible grade they can achieve. I initially identify students` areas of development and then adopt a tailored approach in guiding them through the revision process with a strong focus on exam practice and feedback to timed exam questions and work on identifying a range of study skills that work best for that particular student.

I have a clear understanding on examination requirements and ability to equip students with the necessary exam skills, I also have experience teaching all topics in Paper 1 and 2 and three of the option topics stated below in Paper 3 as well as the compulsory Issues and Debates unit.

Paper 1: Social Influence, Memory, Attachment, Psychopathology
Paper 2: Approaches, Biopsychology, Research Methods
Paper 3: Issues and Debates, Forensic Psychology, Schizophrenia, Cognition and Development

In terms of GCSE Psychology, I have experience teaching all 8 topics covered on the AQA exam board and have developed effective resources to support students with the challenges of the new GCSE.

Experience: I have a BSc and MSc in Psychology and have been teaching GCSE and A Level Psychology for 5 years. I am currently the Head of Psychology and Head of Sixth Form in a diverse secondary school in Enfield. I have a good track record of raising achievement and ensuring all students despite background or ability make outstanding progress. I took over the Psychology department 2 years ago with 20% of the students achieving grades A*-B, last summer 100% of my students achieved a grade B and above. I have delivered various workshops to students and staff from different schools on doing well in A Level Psychology. I have also worked with trainee and newly qualified teachers mentoring them on lesson planning, marking and subject knowledge specifically related to Psychology.
