Information about Mo

I am a practising & experienced teacher with over 25 yrs of A level chemistry teaching experience. I work at a further education college in the Midlands, teaching A level chemistry. We follow the AQA specification. If you are following the AQA syllabus, then I`d like to help you by providing expert tuition.

I have experience of providing 1:1 tuition and have been a Tutor Hunt member for several years but have taken a break from private tutoring for a few years because I have been busy at work. I have semi-retired from January 2021, and I am looking to tutor again from the beginning of the academic year 2023.

So, if you are a student who would like a little extra support and guidance in understanding difficult topics and/or want to be taught each chapter from scratch including getting the best out of exam questions, then you`ll benefit.
I`ll give you key notes summarising essential information for every chapter covered (& I`ll make sure that all parts of the spec are covered). We`ll also practice exam questions to improve upon your exam technique and application of knowledge. An essential part of the course is a set of 6 required practicals in year one (& 6 more in year two) - we`ll make sure that these are fully understood and key notes made on these too to help you in the final exams.

You`ll find me friendly, approachable, understanding and patient and whether you`re performing at a low or a high grade level I can help you.
Each session would be an hour long.
I would travel to you (please note my preferred travel range). If you prefer on line tuition then we can use a Tutorhunt’s platform. My first session is free without obligations & it would be an opportunity to discuss needs and whether I would be best in providing support. We can discuss what suits.

Please Note: I`m offering A level chemistry only (not GCSE). Thank you.

Availability: I am available from the start of the new academic year 2023.
In general, I am available weekdays - normally after school hours to evening (not available on weekends).
I recommend a session a week till the end of the academic year,
If there is a group of you and you would like group tuition, then I`d be interested in offering this also.

Note: Not GCSE.

Thank you.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Experienced and knowledgeable in teaching A level chemistry.
My board of choice is AQA.

During lockdown, my place of work, and pretty much all schools, colleges & universities, started offering virtual classes. I taught my students via Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams has a posts area for messages, a files tab for uploading documents and a class notebook for making notes - as if we are writing on a whiteboard. I have experience also of teaching via TutorHunt`s own online platform which I think is very good (as it also provides a very good whiteboard and sound). I have a writing tablet and a writing stylus which I find allows me to write and sketch as if I was writing on a white board or smartboard. I can upload documents, question sheets, test papers, relevant information sheets etc. onto the online platform for you to print too.

My daughter enjoyed her lesson with Mo, although there was one topic which he did in a different way to what she had been taught and she began to get confused. Otherwise fine. I`m not sure that my daughter was keen on the online lesson, but she would use Mo again, if she needs help. My daughter does have a Chemistry Tutor whom she thinks is very good, but she has cancelled a few lessons and not replaced them, which is why we were looking for extra support, just in case, with the A Level exams not being too far away now.

Mo is an excellent tutor I learned a great deal not only of course content and understanding but of examination approach as well.
He provides good ways to remember challenging concepts and is very knowledgeable in chemistry.
Very reliable, friendly and responsive to individual needs.
Thank you.
