Hello, my name is Briony, and I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Newcastle University, along with specialism in SEN (Special Educational Needs). Before becoming a full-time tutor, I worked as a science teacher in an alternative provision, where I gained extensive experience supporting students with a variety of educational needs, such as ASD, ADHD, ADD, and more. A key strength in my role at the provision was my patience and empathy, understanding the need to explain topics more slowly and repeat instructions to ensure students could fully grasp the material. Now, I aim to transfer these skills to my tutoring practice.

Having achieved top grades, including 9s in Science and 8 in Maths, as well as A-level Biology and AS-level Core Maths, I have personal experience navigating the 9-1 GCSE system. I also have access to a wide range of resources aligned with the national curriculum to enrich my tutoring sessions. Additionally, I have significant experience working with home-schooled students, particularly those with diverse educational and mental health needs. I am dedicated to building a comfortable environment for my students, boosting their confidence, and providing tailored support as they work tos their GCSEs. My experience with EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) students further ensures that I offer personalized and effective guidance. All home schooling work is fully approved by education officers.

Prior becoming a full time tutor, I worked as a science teacher in an alternative provision and that is where I gained my specialist knowledge in additional education needs like ASD, ADHD, ADD. I think a key attribute that was key for me working in a provision was my patience and empathy understanding that I may need to explain a topic slower and repeat explanations in different learning forms visual/verbal to support the learning of the student.

During my A levels and University, I also tutored throughout gaining 4 years experience tutoring.

Furthermore, I am highly experienced with home school students with various educational needs/ mental health needs to help the student feel comfortable with me, increase confidence and of course take the student through to their GCSE’s and provide more exclusive and personal support. (EHCP students experience). I have home school students from various backgrounds from leaving school due to mental health, refugee, epileptic reasons and many more.

Moving into my 5th year of tutoring, Btuition is expanding. I will be able to offer bespoke private tuition lessons with other highly qualified, experienced, young tutors with a wider range of subjects.
My own personal hobbies are; the gym, boxing, running and learning Spanish.
