Information about Courtney
Hi! i`m Courtney, i`m currently in my final year of my Psychology degree with The Open University. I`m a tutor with years of experience tutoring SEN and homeschooled children. I currently have a 100% success rate with all of my students who have studied with me for their GCSE`s and A-levels getting their target grade or above. I aim to help students of all abilities to reach their full potential through tailored 1:1 sessions.
I have worked in a number of schools across Doncaster as a 1:1 tutor, typically working with SEN children. This has enabled me to develop my teaching skill set and has allowed me to adapt my skills to a wide range of pupil needs. I have experience with a number of different additional needs, including ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia.
During my own schooling as a teenager and young adult I homeschooled; this enabled me to build a strong ability to plan lessons and gather resources as I had to teach myself the course content for both my GCSE`s and A-levels. Homeschooling allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of the education system and I feel I have a unique outlook and teaching style because of this experience. Homeschooling also gave me a unique perspective of how it feels to be a child in mainstream education who needed extra provisions in order to flourish. I want to help provide the kind of support that I needed during my own schooling to other children, to help them find enjoyment from education.
I work by splitting the topics up and teaching them in a way that is understandable and engaging. I work a lot with past papers as I find the best way to study for an exam is to practice as much as possible looking at the actual exam, this not only gets students used to answering questions in a way that exam boards want but helps to solidify key knowledge too.I specialise in teaching the AQA syllabus for Psychology but I am able to adapt to any exam board if requested.
Availability: 9am - 7pm on weekdays and 9am - 5pm on weekends
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Im in my final year of a Bsc in Psychology, specialising in educational psychology.
I have gained years of experience supporting GCSE and A-level students in their academic journey over the years and I believe that the best method of tutition is online as this allows for the most flexibility and means that we can focus on the lesson content for the whole lesson instead of getting settled ect.
During my tutoring journey with students I always ensure that my approach fits the needs of each students unique abilities. I strongly believe that after undergoing tutoring, a student should leave with a greatly enhanced understanding of the subject, higher grades, and most importantly an increased confidence in their academic abilities.
