Tutoring shouldn`t be a chore. Your child will make quicker progress and learn with enthusiasm if sessions are light-hearted and as fun as realistically possible. I`m a "modern" teacher, specialising in language and special needs and break sessions into manageable and productive segments.

In January 2014, I fulfilled a long-standing ambition by dipping my toe into the teaching world. However I quickly became frustrated by the suffocating requirements of Ofsted and the necessity to `tick boxes` rather than fundamentally address the needs of children that deserve a good education.

I feel it`s important to stand-up for what you believe in and took the decision to move away from classroom teaching to concentrate on one-on-one tutoring amongst other business interests.

My intrinsic philosophy is to treat each child like an adult, establishing a rapport that enables a proactive, not reactive desire to learn. I`m a firm believer that tutoring (and teaching) needs to be conducted in a fun and light-hearted environment.

Availability: I am available at all times if sufficient notice is given.

Experience: I have one and a half years classroom experience (Jan 2014 - September 2015), teaching GSCE and A Level Business Studies and BTEC Level 2 & 3 Media Studies.

I have taught from Y8 to Y13 and have also tutored Business Studies to a first year university student. I have over ten years experience in the business industry, having worked for various blue chip companies (Philips, Siemens, LG).

Although my classroom experience is relatively limited, I have studied educational philosophy and am a firm believer in the application of different methods to suit different people.

This philosophy was underpinned by the nature of my teaching at a special educational needs school. This role required the delivery of different methods to suit the needs of the relevant pupils - special needs varied from dyslexia, language processing difficulties, attention deficit disorder, asperger syndrome and autism.
