I have been a private tutor since September 2014, primarily preparing students for grammar school 11+ entrance examinations but also providing English and Maths support at primary and secondary level.

I hold a PGCE in English, Literacy and ESOL at distinction level and a First Class Degree in English.

I have an enhanced DBS check and I have undertaken additional TEFL and IELTs training.

I have taught and supported a vast range of ages, levels and abilities. I have previously volunteered at Kumon after school clubs, as well as two Salford Primary Schools. I have also taught and supported at high schools in Stockport, Trafford and Manchester.

I currently work in a Sixth Form College in St Helens as a Study Skills Tutor. This involves supporting individuals and small groups with a vast range of needs including literacy, numeracy, ESOL, note taking/scribing, providing motivation and keeping students on task. I also offer subject specialist support in English, and encourage students retaking the English GCSE to drop-in during my free periods for extra support. In addition, I have previously assisted with the College`s Creative Writing Enrichment Programme by running sessions for students.

I have a wide number of ESOL, Literacy and English resources as well as access to a wealth of practice exam papers. Similarly, I have up-to-date resources and activities for both the CEM and GL 11 plus assessments.

As I have worked extensively with students with special educational needs, I am highly skilled at making information accessible and removing any barriers to learning. I always try to work collaboratively with the student, finding the best possible approach to suit their needs and tailoring my resources and activities to them.
