Information about Simon
I`m a second-year Electrical Engineering student at [contact detail removed, and I graduated from Eton College in 2019 with 4 A/A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Design Technology.
I have experience in tutoring all 11+ subjects, as well as private school entrance exams. I also offer GCSE and IGCSE Maths, the sciences, and Design Technology. My specialities are Maths, Physics and DT, which I also provide at A-Level.
I teach to engage students with the learning material to promote effective independent study. As an open-minded and creative individual, I`m aware of how students differ in their ways of absorbing and processing information. From the first lesson onwards, I determine how the student learns and offer methods that complement it.
I also aim to develop two characteristics which help students succeed: self-discipline and self-awareness. The former is necessary for creating a studying pattern, and the latter is necessary for the student to assess their own progress. These are essential for effective learning - in 60 minutes of work (not necessarily done at once) a student can learn more than in 2+ ineffective hours of work.
Outside of the classroom, I have been involved with a range of extra-curricular activities including international rowing, music performance and composition, and stage management in theatres. These have taught me the aforementioned characteristics, and have been instrumental to my range of successes.
I believe I can not only improve a student`s ability but lay the groundwork for a successful education.

Experience: I have been involved with tuition since 2011, starting out with 11+ tuition for all subjects and moving into GCSE and IGCSE maths in 2014. Since leaving school, I have taken on a number of students in all my offered subjects and helped them reach their goals.
I also have experience in mentoring. I was a founding member of the Eton Aspiration Project, a programme that intellectually stimulates Holyport`s Gifted and Talented students. I was made joint leader in 2017 and led sessions, including one on creativity.
More recently, two of my GCSE students (Design and Maths), saw a 3-4 grade increase in their predicted grade. I have since worked as a Section Leader for Harvard`s "Introduction to Electrical Engineering".
