Information about Alice

Hi, I’m Alice!

I am a fully qualified Primary school teacher, and have been teaching since 2015. I began my career after completing an undergraduate degree in English at Oxford Brookes University, where I attained a high 2:1 degree. Following this, I enrolled at The University of Roehampton as a School Direct PGCE student. Since then, I have taught across all primary year groups, and have robust experience of the National and Independent Curriculum in all subject areas. Having been the Strategic Leader of Maths across three primary schools, and worked closely with the South East London Maths Hub, my speciality lies in teaching Maths. I am an expert in the teaching of Maths Mastery, a methodical curriculum, aimed at developing and embedding fluency, deep knowledge and understanding of underlying mathematical concepts, through following the concrete, pictorial, abstract sequence.

I have worked closely with children with a range of needs and feel confident in my ability to tailor lessons and resources to suit each individual child and their learning style. My understanding that each child’s learning journey is unique, has always ensured that the children I work with make notable progress. I constantly give opportunities for pupils to stretch themselves through effective scaffolding and a learning environment that encourages children to challenge themselves. Self- discovery can be encouraged during lessons through the use of discussion to diffuse teacher led input and to ensure I am constantly able to monitor how well children are coping with the learning.

I set high but realistic standards for the pupils I teach and encourage them to demonstrate perseverance and hard work. Most significantly, I pride myself on planning fun, interactive lessons, actively engaging pupils and giving them the confidence and will to become agents in their own learning.

5/5 Rating

Miss Alice is a fantastic tutor. My boys (aged 6 and 7) are a little behind for their ages and can be easily distracted. Miss Alice quickly understood how they learn and has developed an approach involving games - meaning that they’re learning really well with her, and that they enjoy their lessons! We feel incredibly lucky to have found Miss Alice.
