Information about Shamim
I am a qualified doctor with over 10 years of experience studying for and succeeding in exams, and 7+ years of tutoring GCSE and A-Level Maths and Science. I particularly enjoy working with students who are underperforming or lacking confidence, helping them build their skills and make genuine progress.
My teaching goes beyond covering content. I use a structured, results-driven approach focused on exam technique, simplifying complex topics, and evidence-based study methods such as active recall and spaced repetition. Students receive tailored exam questions, high-yield revision resources, and regular assessments to track progress.
I also provide mentorship and ongoing support outside lessons to help students stay accountable, build confidence, and develop effective study habits. Alongside my own teaching, I work with a small team of tutors, allowing access to broader subject support where needed, including 11+ entrance exams, English Language & Literature, Psychology, Business Studies, and Economics.

Experience: Over the past 7+ years I have supported students across GCSE and A-Level Maths and Science, helping many to improve their grades and confidence, with a focus on exam performance and long-term understanding. I have also mentored students through the UCAS process, supporting applications to competitive courses including Medicine, Psychology, and Chemistry.
I was also appointed as a Widening Participation Fellow at a UK university, delivering academic support and mentoring to aspiring students aged 9 to 17.

Shamim has access to a range of tutors and also teaches himself. My son is working with Talib who is a highly diligent tutor and has a genuine interest to help my son progress. He is flexible and adaptable and sessions are bespoke to my son`s needs in Biology A Level. Shamim also retains an interest in progress and is very responsive.

Contacted Shamim about helping my younger sister with her A level revision, he and his team supported her very well. They worked closely with her for a few months, she went from failing all her mocks to now studying biology at Newcastle Uni.
