Information about Daniel
I am a hard working individual who is passionate about the English language. I have a large degree of writing and proof reading experience, achieved through working in both China and Japan, along with many media related roles within the UK. I am a native English speaker who has a very strong command of the language both orally and academically. I hold a 2:1 degree in Mass Communications and I am CELTA qualified, a Cambridge affiliated teaching qualification. I have a strong interest in China, I speak Mandarin to near fluency and I aim to achieve proficiency in the near future.
I achieved a Pass B grade in terms of my CELTA qualification which I completed in August 2015. Only a minority of trainees receive such a grade, which is above standard, which proves I have an excellent command of the English language both orally and academically.
At the moment I provide a focus on the following:
English Language GCSE and TESOL.
In terms of TESOL, I have experience teaching English as a foreign language to people of all ages and will certainly be able to help in any area of the language you wish to focus on.
For non-native speakers of English studying in the UK, I can help with writing essays as I have a large degree of writing and proof reading experience, along with achieving good marks in all of my essays at university.
For Language GCSE tuition I can successfully improve leaners` ability when writing to argue, persuade and describe. This will be done through effective planning, structuring, a variety of punctuation and vocabulary while building towards a climax and writing memorable conclusions. It is important to include the rule of three, alliteration, personification, appealing to the senses, rhetorical questions, emotive language, emotive anecdotes, a variety of sentence and paragraph lengths and so on. I also have an emphasis of going through past papers and teaching students how to successfully answer questions that require a focus on the writers` feelings and thoughts, comparing language features and identifying effective language etc.
Availability: I am moving to teach in China at the start of June.
I am now looking for new students up until then so I am offering deals in terms of pricing.
For ESL tuition I will offer 1.5 hour lessons for £20.
For GCSE tuition my lessons will now be £10 ph. I will only teach English Language GCSE to students in St.Albans or Hatfield.
I have a very flexible schedule for April and May so please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss my availability.
I look forward to accepting new students!
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: Key teaching skills:
Writing skills I have excellent writing skills and can help learners of English improve their writing in a variety of ways from cover letters, CVs, creative writing to academic essays and preparation for writing exams.
Pronunciation I am a native English speaker born in London so I have an accent very close to the Queens spoken English. I can successfully improve learners pronunciation of spoken English. I have knowledge of the phonemic scri pt and can help with individual word stress and sentence stress. For young speakers, I have experience of teaching phonics.
Professional English I am able to teach English suitable for professional working environments
Reading Reading for gist, scanning, reading for specific information, reading for detail and extended reading. Also helping young learners to improve their reading both native and non-native speakers.
Grammar I enjoy helping learners improve their grammar and recognise the importance it holds. This is especially important to those learning English as a second language.
I have experience teaching in China both before and after my university graduation. I have taught English to both young and adult learners. With young learners I have taught general English, whereas with adult learners it is mostly professional English. I have achieved fantastic results and improved my learners of English both in private and in group tuition. I pride myself on helping my students as much as I can and find nothing more satisfactory then seeing progress made.
At the moment I am teaching Japanese students (mainly young learners) for a teaching company in London. I pride myself on maximising speaking and getting my students to speak as much as they possibly can.
