Information about Amy
APOLOGIES BUT DUE A LARGE NUMBER OF RECENT ENQUIRIES I AM UNABLE TO TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL BOOKINGS AT PRESENT.
Hello, my name is Amy and I am a fully qualified PGCE (biology) teacher, who has taught GCSE combined and triple science, GCSE psychology, and A-Level biology and psychology. I also have experience as an examiner for Edexecel. I am available to tutor students completing:
- KS3 Collins Science
- GCSE Edexcel Science (and single biology)
- GCSE AQA Science (and single biology)
- GCSE OCR 21st Century Science (and single biology)
- GCSE Edexcel psychology
- A-Level AQA biology and psychology.
I have been tutoring students since 2016, and aim to help students of all abilities achieve their full potential through tailored one-to-one sessions. When tutoring a student, I like to spend our first session discussing your current strengths, as well as the areas you feel you want to improve in before devising an action plan. If possible, I would also like to see any recent assessments that you have completed. In subsequent sessions we will focus on systematically reviewing any content that you identify as struggling with and then check your understanding of this content through application to exam questions, looking through the mark scheme together. I believe it is important to balance sessions with a mixture of content and exam technique to ensure that alongside understanding the knowledge you can actually apply it to the context you will be assessed in, understanding what an examiner is looking for.
In my tutoring sessions I like to use a variety of activities and tasks to help support learning, including: quick knowledge quizzes, whiteboard recall tasks, animations/videos to help visualise processes, real life examples to put concepts in context and past paper exam questions.
If you are interested in booking a session with me please contact me through the tutor hunt messaging system. Please inform me of the level (e.g. GCSE, A Level) and exam board (e.g. Edexcel, AQA) you/your child is studying with and I will reply as soon as possible. Bookings are made on a recurring weekly or fortnightly basis but these can be altered as required.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Availability: In the current climate I will be running all tutoring sessions online, but when possible will resume to in person tutoring.

Feedback For Amy (4)
My Daughter found Amy really friendly, helpful and useful. She helped my daughter to identify her common mistakes, avoid it and score better. when time comes, will ask her to teach my daughter again.
Amy has been amazing in the short time she has been tutoring my daughter. My daughter loves Amys teaching methods and the lesson structure in preparation for her mock and GCSE exams. My daughter is already more confident on general science and has a renewed sense of self belief. I receive a summary email after every lesson with material from the session for recap. I cant recommend Amy highly enough for general science tuition.
Amy has been brilliant with my daughter. She’s organised, explains concepts thoroughly and provides a comfortable learning environment where my daughter can ask questions freely. Very happy!
Amazing tutor !!! highly recommended
