Organised and punctual, he prepares for each session in advance, with the lessons always starting on time. He is friendly, understanding, and easy to get on with. He makes it ‘safe’ to make mistakes, which has proven to be very effective at encouraging me to be more active than in class or with other tutors I’ve had. He also adapts to his tutees’ needs and preferences in things like the pace at which you go through the material, level of detail you go into, and how much homework you want to have, if any. For example: because I have a processing issue that makes it difficult to write, especially while talking, Sal takes notes on the whiteboard and makes sure to pause when I am taking notes. He is patient and never rushes me, only continuing when I say I’m ready to move on. Sal gives thorough feedback with constructive criticism and attention to detail, as well as much-needed praise on strong points of your response. It is clear that Sal puts a lot of effort into his work, and is dedicated to helping his students, offering to assist with any questions or difficulties you may have between sessions via email. What I especially like about Sal is that he challenges and encourages you to push limits - for example: whenever we are covering a topic from the A-level curriculum, he gives me more detail on the subject to deepen my understanding (which I value very much), while also giving me advice and tasks to prepare for university"
