I am a Cambridge Natural Sciences graduate specialising in Chemistry, and I will be starting Medicine later this year. I tutor Chemistry and Biology, with a particular focus on A-level Chemistry, GCSE Science, and students moving from Year 12 into Year 13.

I achieved A*A*A* in Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level, and Grade 9s in these subjects at GCSE. I also have an enhanced DBS check.

My approach is structured but flexible. I usually begin by identifying the student’s weaker areas, either through discussion, recent test performance, or a short diagnostic set of questions. From there, I rebuild the topic clearly, check understanding as we go, and then move quickly into exam-style questions. I do not think tutoring should just be re-teaching the textbook; the real improvement usually comes from spotting misconceptions, improving problem-solving technique, and learning how marks are actually awarded.

Lessons are typically one hour and are held online using video call and an interactive whiteboard. This works well for mechanisms, calculations, diagrams, worked examples and past-paper questions.

I have tutored for the last four years, and my students have typically improved by around two grades, often moving from C/B level towards A/A* level. I keep track of what has been covered in each lesson so that progress is structured rather than random, and so that weaker topics are revisited properly.

My lessons are best suited to GCSE students, A-level Chemistry students, and Year 12 students preparing for Year 13 who want to consolidate weaker topics before predicted grades, autumn assessments and final exams.

Experience: I am familiar with platforms used for online tutoring and can efficiently integrate online tools such as whiteboards and videos into lessons to optimise the learning experience. Online tuition has come a long way in the last decade. The technology and software available have made online tuition reliable, hassle free, and fun. In fact, I’ve found that being able to be face-to-face with our students throughout the session over the video chat is actually an improved experience to that of being side-by-side at a table in the traditional, ‘in person’ set up! It truly makes a difference to the student engagement and student-tutor connection during the session.

I have access to many A Level GCSE science resources and questions that can be used in lessons and I am happy to set and mark homework if that is useful to my students.

I have worked for a number of tutors in the past creating tailored resources such as question packs and model answers. I also have experience mentoring younger students at school over a period of 4 years. I enjoyed seeing real improvements in my students` abilities as they progessed with me.
