With only 213 pupils, Spring Bank Primary School has a slightly below average number of students in the UK. The school is a mixed school, having 48.8% girls and 51.2% boys. Absence by school pupils must be justified by illness or advance consent from the school. A 95.6% attendance rate gives it an average attendance record. 10.8 members of staff leaves Spring Bank Primary School below average in staffing numbers. A 20:1 teacher/student ratio for This School may make it difficult for the teacher to give attention to individual pupils` concerns.

KS2 exams are important to the pupils themselves as often secondary schools will use these results to determine which academic set to place the pupils. Students in higher sets are usually challenged more and are able to develop at a faster rate. An average KS2 score of 105 is just above the normal result for the school. The average full time teacher`s salary for the school is £38355 , which is higher than nationwide average. Only 76.5% of pupils speak English as a 1st language in Spring Bank Primary School, a proportion much lower than the countries average figure.

Ofsted

About Ofsted

Ofsted have been inspecting schools on a regular basis since 2005. After a cursory warning period they undertake a thorough examination of the whole school. Inspectors will sit in on classes, assessing each teacher's teaching ability. They will also evaluate the way the current curriculum is implemented, and how the progress of each student is tracked throughout their tenure.

Each school is graded on a four point scale: 1 being outstanding, 2 being good, 3 means they require improvement, and 4 signifying inadequate. Those schools attaining an outstanding or good grade might not be re-inspected for as long as five years; while those receiving lower grades will be reassessed with greater frequency, with little or no notice prior to the inspectors arriving.
