What are the benefits of tutoring from my perspective as a teacher? In a word many! As a former head of German with a responsibility for attainment and teaching standards I am more aware after one year of tutoring how difficult it is to help a child to reach their potential in a classroom setting. The industrial number crunching of the state education system pays scant attention to the individual`s learner profile. Hence in a large classroom the teacher finds it so difficult to differentiate according to the individual`s needs. Therefore, the exam outcomes are mostly short of what the school and state would want for the child. One to one tutoring is so much more personal and pupil`s opting for this type of out of school support generally respond so much better. This is especially true for those pupils who need more teacher support be it academic or psychological. It does cost more to facilitate this type of learning but put in context a half term of personal tuition is a small price to payc to see your child`s progression and resultant confidence in learning in this case a foreign language.
