It is only natural for a parent to be concerned over their children`s performance during the exam period and to ensure that they are ready for them.

Most parents want to be able to guide and give advice to their children on how to study and do well in their exams but don`t know where to start, so here`s a few tips.

1. Compose a Study Plan.

A Study Plan will not only help your children to plan and organise their time constructively but it will also help them get into the habit of studying on a regular basis so that by the time they go to University it will come naturally to them to study.

2. Encourage your children to use `HUBB` when taking notes.

Research shows that the brain retains a lot more information when you Highlight, Underline, Bold and Box vital information. So encourage your children to use different coloured pens, highlighters, one sentence paragraphs and bullet points when taking notes.

3. Ensure homework is completed on time and checked by the teacher.

Completing homework on time will not only teach your children the responsibility of meeting deadlines and improve their time management but it will also help them to identify areas they need to improve on.

4. Encourage your children to attend after school supported study classes.

After school supported study classes are a great opportunity for your children to study and review information with other students. Sometimes other students can explain information in a way that is easier to understand or remember. In addition to this, it is also a great opportunity for your children to seek additional support from teachers.

5. Practise questions from past exam papers.

We all know that History tends to repeat itself well so do exam questions. Past exam paper questions tend to creep up now and again. So the more your children practise past paper questions the more they will become familiar with them and will be confident in answering them in the exam.
