I believe that at the heart of all teaching should be the learner. All students come to the learning situation with their own background knowledge and experiences. As a teacher it is my job to guide, facilitate, educate and support new information and the knowledge that they bring with them to the lesson. Students learn in variety of ways and I aim to adapt my teaching style to the individual.I believe it is important to differentiate for students so that they are able to understand according to their own personalized way of learning. I am passionate about teaching literacy and I believe that literacy is so much more than reading and writing. It is the ability to obtain knowledge from a variety of sources, the ability to inspire and to be inspired, to learn and to teach. It moves beyond the page and the text but to the depths of the mind. The secret of teaching maths well is about giving it a purpose and aiming to make it both challenging and fun.Practical experiences can be used to explain concepts and aid understanding. At the centre of good maths teaching is the desire to instil confidence in the pupils and eliminate the barriers and perceived barriers to efective learning. After 22 years of teaching ,I still feel inspired by my work and have a real love of educating ,empowering and engaging with pupils.Teaching is a passion and a privilege.
