Science exams have now introduced long answer 6 mark questions, these can change your grade from a C to a possible A. Try to follow these tips on how to answer these questions. 1. The most important tip is to READ the question very carefully, I tell pupils to underline the most important parts of the question. The question normally gives you a lot of information then asks you about a certain topic relating to this information. 2. Start of by thinking about WHAT are they asking you? WHAT is the question telling you already? WHAT do you know about the topic and question asked? 3. Remember the different type of exam words, DESCRIBE= tell me what is going on e.g explain the shape of a table, this means you just describe the process that is happening give an overview of what is happening. EXPLAIN= tell me why it`s happening e.g explain the shape of a table, this means that you need to write about why this is happening and this is harder than describing with more detail. ANALYSE= analyse the number of legs on the table, this normally means using numbers that is in the question. It is very important you use the correct numbers and this is how you gain 5-6 marks overall. 4. Spelling and punctuation is important but don`t panic about it too much because you have to really mess this up to lose marks.

Follow these steps and you should improve your marks, if you want more information contact me for tutoring.
