It seems that many people have the simple impression that learning Chinese (Mandarin) is very difficult, which is not true!

Some people may get such impression from the writng, in other words, from just looking at the Chinese characters, it may look difficult to you. But if you understand that every Chinese character is formed by certain strokes that are very limited amount and easy to understand and master when they are showing to separately!

Some people may get such impression from the speaking because Chinese have five, mainly four different tones, first to fourth tone. However, this is not a major issue unless you want to do a phd in Chinese learning. I believe the majority of you just want to be able to communicate in daily life and works, plus be able to read and write. If so, tones are not the issue for stopping you to start. Think about the facts that any native language speaker would appreciate the fact that you, as a very different foreign lenguage native speaker, nobody would expect that you could master every tone accurately. More importantly, you would say words with sentences and within certain circumstances, by combining these, people could understand what you speak even your tones are not very accurate. So, don`t be afraid to say it out.

If writing and speaking are not problems, why would you have problems with reading and listening?

However, it is very important that you would committe yourself in focusing during the lesson and at least 2hrs after the lesson duing the week to enhance the lesson. There will be no difficulties if you have such determination.

Look foward to your partipation into the learning of the most spoken language in the world. And wish you good luck!
