Its the time of the year when Science GCSE students have to write their controlled assessments. Typical topics include effect on salt on melting point of water, effect on temperature of rate of reaction etc.

My advise is to start with an introduction. This should include what you are going to write about and the main topics you are going to cover.

Next develop your hypothesis followed by your predictions. The hypothesis should be something which can be proven to be true or false and the prediction should develop the hypothesis further.

After this detail the equipment you have used. This should be followed by methodology which details the steps you followed for your experiment.

Include your data results, identifying any outliers. Then write a section on evaluation and whether you have proven your hypothesis and your assumptions to be true or false.

Finally write a section on what you could have done to improve your experiment and a conclusion.

Good luck!
