Recently I have had 2 clients want to lose the same amount of weight in 3 months before a big event. One of my clients wanted to lose the weight for her wedding and the other one for a holiday. My sessions usually cost £30 hour but as my 2 clients were so determined to lose the weight because it was affecting their confidence levels, I decided to drop the sessions to £22.50 to make sure they exercised enough during the week so that I could really motivate them and take control of their diet and routine. First of all I took weight/measurements and conducted a movement/health screen to make sure I had a good idea of how they needed to exercise. I then asked them to fill in a food diary and they returned this to me at the next session. I reviewed their diet and made adjustment. Client 1 was a mother of 3 and she feared that if I put her on a diet she would have no energy and wouldn`t be able to live life. I explained to her that all I was going to do was structure her diet so that it was easy to follow. I put her on a low fat diet and without realising it she began to lose weight. Client 2 on the other hand had a different body shape and different appetite so I put her on a lower carb diet and she began to lose weight. Both diets were based on an 80-20% rule meaning that if they slipped up they were not to punish themselves as they were able to continue the week well and still be on target. Exercise sessions were fun, I mixed cardiovascular exercise with strength training and kept my clients working hard by pushing them. They moaned sometimes but mostly laughed as I like to make the sessions interesting and fun with different routines each session. Client 1 has an apple body shape so I differed the exercises from Client 2 who was a pear body shape. I did not want my clients to build muscle in the wrong areas as both wanted to lose inches. Aster every 2 weeks we did a weigh in, subject to whether or not my client felt comfortable with this. Some clients prefer to go off measurements solely. I reassessed their diets every 4 weeks and did regular fitness tests throughout the programme to make sure they were on track. After just 4 weeks I saw a huge improvement in my clients confidence and mental status. At the 4 week stage one client had lost 8 pounds and the other 7. This inspired them to continue with the programme and one client began exercising on her own as well as seeing me whereas previously she had not been able to motivate herself to do any exercise. We are now in our 3rd month and one of my clients has lost 1 stone and 7 pounds and the other 1 stone and 5 pounds. I am very proud of my clients.
