Though the term "living" is more frequently encountered in Biology, however, it is not peculiar to Biology alone. In fact, Chemistry is actually a living subject as averse to the thought that it is an abstract subject. Everything we do every day involves chemistry either directly or indirectly. From breathing oxygen to bathing with soap and water, to brushing of the teeth with tooth paste, to eating, even to the point of which ever clothing material we put on our body, be it (rayon, polyester, wool, cotton etc.) These are proofs that chemistry is not an abstract subject but a daily living subject. For concrete example, when dealing with exothermic and endothermic reactions, if you trace your left hand palm on the paper from the smallest finger to the thumb, you would have drawn the shape of an exothermic graph, while if the palm faces you, and it is traced, from thumb to the smallest finger, it will give you an endothermic graph shape. The reverse is the case if the right is traced. This is just one of the ways you can view and see chemistry as a living subject.

There are still more if you want to learn chemistry without having to cram.
